Hypnosis is older than recorded history. Thousands of years ago, primitive people in Africa and Australia used chanting, drums, and the fixation of their eyes to achieve the state we now know as hypnosis. They were able to effortlessly perform amazing physical feats and easily endure situations that would ordinarily cause excruciating physical pain.

Dis-ease

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system"

or you could say

""The cause of all problems in life is a disruption in the body's energy sytems"

In the mid 1990's, a man named Gary Craig took elements from other Meridian Energy Therapies and he created a simple healing protocol which he named "The Emotional Freedom Techniques". He began teaching those techniques to people in workshops and with video tapes of his seminars. Psychologists, personal coaches, hypnotherapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, and others have flocked to EFT in overwhelming numbers. For many professionals it has become their main personal development tool.

What is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a lot like hypnotherapy with an added body component, and with EFT there is no need to go into trance. You are able to gain access to parts of your subconscious mind safely, easily and rapidly. Everyone can do it, and once you learn EFT, it's yours forever.
As people experience EFT, most report a profound easing of stress-producing emotions like anxiety and fear, anger and frustration, sadness, even cravings. EFT involves a simple process of tapping on stress-relief points (our body's energy meridians), actually acupuncture points, on the body as we talk about your issue. You may do the tapping yourself or with your therapist and as you learn to 'tap away' the negative emotional charge, you'll have a very effective tool to help yourself and others.

E.F.T. usually allows you to achieve lasting results in 2-5 sessions. And with E.F.T., we do have quite a few "one session wonders"! Many times, E.F.T. works in a complementary way with other therapies. For instance, someone who is processing issues with a talk therapist would benefit from the direct, body-centered emotional clearing offered by E.F.T. Individual sessions are very effective, yet E.F.T. lends itself quite well to work in groups. Since you can often achieve your goals in a group setting at a substantial savings, you may find E.F.T. particularly accessible. Another advantage of E.F.T. is that sessions can be very successfully done over the phone. You can experience this healing work in the convenience of your home, and phone sessions can often be more easily scheduled than office visits, especially if you live at a distance.

How does it work?
The stress-relief points on the body that we tap in the EFT procedure are in fact meridian points based on the same system as acupuncture. EFT founder Gary Craig calls EFT "an emotional form of acupuncture except that we don't use needles. Instead, we tap with the fingertips to stimulate certain meridian points while the client is 'tuned in' to the problem." EFT is one of a growing number of energy/meridian therapies, and while we aren't sure just how they work, the remarkable thing about them is that they work so well. For many issues, the success rate is 80% or higher, something no other form of therapy can claim.

One of the most appealing things about EFT is its simplicity. Even a child can learn it in minutes. You learn one simple tapping process, and no matter what is bothering you, chances are you will feel less bothered after tapping for it. Many times the negative feelings about a specific issue completely resolve and you can't get them back. Phobias, for example, often lift entirely and people cannot experience the old fear even if they try.

What is at the root of most of our blockages, problems and stress? It is our negative emotion-fear, anger, anxiety, discomfort, resentment, depression, hopelessness, and so forth. As you experience EFT, it feels like "letting the air out of the balloon" so that you collapse the intensity of the negative emotions, and as you do, you feel more peaceful and centered, see things more clearly and can make better choices.
